Minister for Women Pru Goward announced that the NSW Government will be an official sponsor of the 2015 Sydney International Women’s Day breakfast, hosted by the Australian National Committee for UN Women.
International Women’s Day is a global celebration of the economic, political and social achievements of women, with the annual Sydney breakfast marking the pinnacle of NSW celebrations.
Ms Goward said the NSW Government is committed to celebrating the contributions women make to NSW society and acknowledging areas that require development through annual International Women’s Day activities.
“The NSW Government is proud to be an official event sponsor of the 2015 Sydney International Women’s Day breakfast, a milestone event in the ongoing campaign to achieve gender equality,” Ms Goward said.
“The 2015 breakfast is an important fundraiser for UN Women, showcasing the achievements women have made in the 20 years since the 1995 Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action. “The 2015 International Women’s Day and UN Women’s activities will identify key initiatives needed to advance women’s workforce participation, particularly engagement in non-traditional career paths.”
Funds raised at the 2015 Sydney International Women’s Day Breakfast will support UN Women’s projects to tackle issues of poverty and women’s economic leadership.
