MANILA - The Palace said it is up to the courts to decide on proposals to place under house arrest former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and Senator Juan Ponce Enrile.
Enrile has been on hospital arrest at the Philippine National Police (PNP) General Hospital on plunder and graft charges in connection with the pork barrel scam. But he was rushed to the Makati Medical Center last week after contracting pneumonia.
Enrile is rejecting calls that he be placed under house arrest, saying he is ready to fight his accusers and prove his innocence, according to his son former Congressman Jack Enrile.
Arroyo, meanwhile, is also under hospital arrest at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC) for a plunder case in connection with the alleged misuse of Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) intelligence funds during her term as president.
