On 14 June 2015, The Filipino community of
Port Pirie celebrated the 117th Anniversary of Philippine Independence Day with
a mass at St. Mark’s Cathedral and afterwards fellowship and morning tea of
Filipino merienda dishes held at the Cathedral’s Chapter Hall, organized by
Father Francis Montero and attended by Filipinos from Port Pirie and

Favourite Filipino Dishes - Pancit, Lumpiang Shanghai and Adobo Immersion Group
of St. Mark’s College, Port Pirie through a cooking demonstration by members of
the Filipino Community held at the school’s home economics kitchen on 24 June
2015. An enjoyable and fun mini “master chef” cooking lesson!

dish to perfection.
Suzy Amos demonstrated
how to cook our national dish- adobo - using Father Francis Montero’s “secret”
recipe. Served with boiled rice for main course, adobo got full marks
from the parents of the participants and staff of St. Mark’s College who
sampled the Filipino cuisine.
It was Minion Theme at Matthew “Matt-Matt” Bito-on Nacor’s 2nd birthday
party held at the Anglican Church Hall, Port Pirie on the 3 July 2015.
