BAYANIHAN SA BAHAY KUBO FOUNDATION INC ON THE UNVEILING OF THE WALL OF APPRECIATION

The wind and cold winter weather of June did not stop the Filipino families and friends for coming to witness the “Unveiling of the Wall of Appreciation” at the Filipino Community Centre last June 22, 2013 at 17 Angela Avenue, Brahma Lodge, South Australia. This special event was organized by the Bayanihan Sa Bahay Kubo Foundation Incorporated, its Board of Directors, the caretaker of the Filipino Community Centre, to honor the Filipino families and friends who gaved generously with their pledges.


The Wall of Appreciation was unveiled by the honoured guests Consul General-South Australia Dr Reynaldo Dante G. Juanta OAM, FILCCA President Atty. Aida Garcia, assisted by Salisbury Councillor Ms. Betty Gill. Federal MP for Makin Tony Zappia, arrived later and praised the Foundation for their accomplishment of having the “first Filipino House” in South Australia.

FILCCA President Atty. Aida Garcia, urged the Filipinos to unite and continue their support to the Foundation to sustain the needs of the first Filipino Community Centre in South Australia. The SA Consul General Dr Dante Juanta, OAM gave thanks to the Board of Directors of the Foundation for their effort in seeking the help of the community to raise funds for the Filipino community house. Salisbury Councillor Betty Gill promised to help the Foundation if needed. Rudy Bautista, Chairperson of the Foundation gave an inspiring talk and shared the Bayanihan Sa Bahay Kubo Foundation Inc slogan, “Sama-sama Sa Pagkakaisa”. Ted Gaviola, one of the Board of Directors, gave a prayer for UNITY.

 

Certificates on completion of pledges were also distributed during the event as shown below.

The “Merienda”, prepared by the group were shared among guests and one big delicious “Kaldero ng Lugaw” brought by Board Members Gary and Jane Santillana came as a surprise to all, “mainit na sabaw” that kept the visitors and guests warm on the cold winter weather. To boost and uplift the spirits and morale of everyone, everybody sang the “Bahay Kubo, Kahit Munti” folk song.


The Board of Directors expressed their gratitude to the Filipino communities in Whyalla,Port Pirie,Naracoorte,Bordertown,Gawler, Murray Bridge and Adelaide for their donations and pledges.
