APCO launches “Sagip Kabayan 2013”

In line with the Alliance of Philippine Community Organisation’s Humanitarian, Emergency and Livelihood Program (HEAL) APCO launched its ‘Sagip Kabayan 2013’ project today, 5 Sep 2013.

Aimed to provide relief and financial assistance to victims of the recent Typhoon Maring in the Philippines, Jhun Salazar, current APCO president appealed to the Board, members and affiliates of APCO saying, “May I encourage everyone to please bring your donations either monetary or relief items including but not limited to clothing, blankets, towels, canned goods, non-perishable edible items and useful utensils (pans, spoon & fork, plates) etc to the drop off point at 6/15 St Johns Road , Auburn. Please encourage your members, friends and relatives to participate. Thank you”.

In a special meeting held at Dooleys, Lidcombe on the 30th of September chaired by Dr Cen Amores, as designated by current president who had been sick, it was agreed that considering the enormity of the devastation caused by flooding, three distribution points have been identified: Metro Manila, Southern Tagalog and Northern Philippines. Reliable local contacts have been identified to ensure an efficient and timely distribution of relief goods in time for Christmas. Cash donations will be personally delivered by APCO founding president and advisers, Dr Cen and Ruben Amores who are scheduled to have their family Christmas holiday in the Philippines this year.

APCO is also appealing to the wider community to support this humanitarian initiative. Relief goods, and financial donations are welcome. Donations by cheque, payable to Alliance of Philippine Community Organisations, Inc may be posted to: APCO, PO Box 20156, Berala NSW 2141. Cash donations may be deposited to APCO’s bank account for HEAL Program with Commonwealth Bank of Australia details of which are: BSB No: 062 443 Account No: 10884201; Account Name: Alliance of Philippine Community Organisations, Inc.
